The visionary words of our founder, the late Rev. Jack Chinchen, still echo today: "Africa has a great God-given destiny." Nearly half a century ago, Jack and Nell Chinchen embarked on a journey, brimming with courage and determination, to establish Christian universities across Africa. Their pioneering spirit was evident as they ventured into uncharted territory; Christian universities were scarce on the African continent fifty years ago. Through their tireless efforts, Jack and Nell Chinchen revealed the abundant harvest awaiting in Africa. Their story is a testament to the power of faith and the potential for change.
Today we build on their legacy as African Bible Colleges (ABC) embarks on yet another bold journey: forging a new frontier in Christian education online throughout the vast continent of Africa. The Continent’s sheer size is awe-inspiring; you could fit the United States into Africa four times over! Indeed, we often underestimate the grandeur of Africa.
Out of the 54 countries in Africa, only four presently offer online university education. Malawi marks the fifth, Uganda the sixth, and Liberia the seventh. As our online team, led by Annabelle Chinchen, granddaughter of ABC founders and the late Dr. Paul Chinchen, spearheads this new and exciting initiative, we are discovering the tremendous potential.
God commands us to send swift messengers to a land where people are crying out, beckoning us to come to their aid. While many universities shy away from offering online courses in Africa due to uncertain profitability, ABC remains unwavering in its commitment. Our values, established from the outset, remain steadfast—to impart the treasures of God's truth and to nurture Christian Changemakers for the African continent.
Amidst the remarkable advancements in online education worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to not overlook Africa. Jack Chinchen eloquently expressed the reason for his return to Africa: “We return to Africa because Africa has a great God-given destiny.” Initiating such an endeavor is no small feat. Embarking on a journey to start something new is undoubtedly challenging. Jack Chinchen nearly left the mission field on what he shared to be his "darkest day in Africa" after the tremendous opposition he faced when he first arrived in Liberia. Africa needs initiatives like African Bible Colleges - Africa needs you.
African Bible Colleges pioneered the way for Christian education in Africa. We pioneered the way for radio broadcasting and TV, and now we are pioneering the way for online education.
This online education initiative is a unique opportunity to reach individuals who would have otherwise not been able to obtain education, including the disabled, single mothers, widows, and the older population who missed out on the opportunity to achieve a college education. Will you graciously consider supporting this pioneering endeavor at African Bible Colleges by joining us in this joyful pursuit? Your support can help us launch this program and make a significant impact. Won't you help us BLAST into the frontier and go where very few universities have ventured in Africa…into the future with online education!
